Washington: Reporter hits out at 'spectator' Donald Trump

Donald Trump has been mocked as the ‘Television Viewer-in-Chief’ following the US President’s sparking of violent protests in Washington. Supporters spurred on by the Republican leader’s rally encouragement have descended upon Capitol Hill in their thousands. In scenes that CNN described as “disgraceful”, protesters clashed with law enforcement and even breached the Capitol building.

One anchor said: “The president is just watching this on TV. He is now a spectator of the destruction he has unleashed.

“He is not acting as a Commander-in-Chief anymore, he is just a ‘Television Viewer-in-Chief’.

“He is just watching all of this unfold and it’s disgraceful.

“It’s one of the most disgraceful things we’re ever going to witness in our lives. Shame on him.”
