Alan Haley Mill, who is suspected of intentionally striking two bicyclists in Jefferson County, is in custody

The suspect in Jefferson County crash that severely injured two cyclists this week is in police custody.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that Alan Haley Mill, 38, was held at the county jail. There was a $10,000 reward for his capture posted a day before he was captured.

According the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a hit-and-run crash involving an SUV driver and two bicyclists Sunday morning in the 29000 block of U.S. 40. Both cyclists were injured, including one in critical condition.

The vehicle involved was a 2018 Ford Escape registered to Mill. Witnesses told authorities that Mill intentionally drove into the two cyclists. The driver then sped through a restaurant parking lot, dislodging a badly damaged bicycle from beneath the car, before fleeing east on Interstate 70.

There was a warrant out for Mill for first-degree assault, two counts; and accidents involving death or personal injuries.
