Abandoned dog carried to safety on hero cyclist’s back in heartwarming footage

A cyclist in racing gear carried a dog on his back to safety after finding the animal abandoned and severely dehydrated in the middle of the road, a heartwarming video has shown.

The incident was filmed in the southern Argentine province of Rio Negro before being widely shared on social media.

More than 600,000 people have viewed the clip since it began circulating.

The footage captured a man in cycling gear carrying the large black and white dog across his back as he pedals along the road.

Three cyclists from the town of Villa Regina were travelling together when they came across an abandoned dog in the middle of the road that appeared dehydrated and disorientated.

He brought the dog back to the town, but it is currently unclear who is caring for the animal at the moment.

The clip was uploaded to Facebook with the caption: "Rodri, Alan and Emiliano from Villa Regina helped an abandoned dog that was dehydrated during their training."

One person commented on the video: "Such a big heart, I have no words.

"Carrying the dog on your shoulders and cycling for miles.

It comes after an abandoned dog was found tied up with a note saying "I love you and I’m so sorry".

The brindle and white Staffie cross was found tied to the altar in Sacred Heart Church by churchgoers – who have lovingly named him Cracker – just days before Christmas.
