Keir Starmer interrupted by climate protestors
Sir Keir Starmer’s gamble of granting activists from the disruptive Green New Deal Rising organisation appears to have backfired, as the group still plans targeted protests outside senior Labour MPs’ offices.
In July, a speech by Sir Keir on education reform was hijacked by activists from the group, who managed to gatecrash the leader’s backdrop of young activists.
The protest, which was broadcast live on multiple news channels, saw Sir Keir accused of “so many u-turns”.
While Sir Keir has adamantly denied any links between his party and groups like Just Stop Oil, on Tuesday a senior figure from Green New Deal Rising boasted that the protest had secured them meetings with top Labour officials.
Fatima Ibrahim said the meetings – one of which was with Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting – proved that disruptive protests helped them get their way.

It now appears Sir Keir Starmer’s plan to engage with the group has backfired, after it emerged they plan multiple disruptive protests outside the offices of Labour MPs – including Sir Keir’s own constituency office in St Pancras.
A WhatsApp message seen by the Express reveals GNDR will protest outside the offices of Keir Starmer, Emily Thornberry and David Tammy tomorrow.
Activists are encouraged to wear “something red” due to the dress code of “it’s getting hot in here”.
They’re also directed to bring along a sign “that represents headlines/climate chaos”.
The group is clearly hoping to maximise Labour humiliation, highlighting that press will be attending the protest outside Emily Thornberry’s office.

Protestors will head to the pub when they’ve finished their 5.30pm rallies outside Sir Keir and Ms Thornberry’s offices.
The revelation the group had secured top-level access to Labour officials following their protest at Sir Keir’s speech raised further questions about the Labour leader’s relationship with extreme climate activists.
In July, Sir Keir claimed reports that a senior aide of his had approached Just Stop Oil for a meeting were “nonsense”.
He said: “There haven’t been meetings and engagement, there was some nonsense story in the Mail today.
“I’ve not met them, my team aren’t meeting them, it’s a complete distraction.”
Responding to GNDR’s interview earlier this week, Net Zero Secretary Grant Shapps said: “Labour is dancing to the tune of eco zealots who want us to be dependent on evil dictators like Putin”.
“First, Labour let Just Stop Oil write their energy surrender plan, now they’re holding meetings with yet another group of radical environmentalists.”
