In an interview on the 1st of May, Kanye West a popular American-based rapper told that the $20 bill that is being circulated reminds him of slavery. He uses the ‘slave movies’ metaphor while comparing a $20 bill with Harriet Tubman on it.

Harriet Tubman is an early 20th-century slave in America who was an abolitionist and a political activist. In such movies, the person watching is usually reminded of the slavery in the same manner depicting Harriet on a dollar bill is further stereotyping according to West. Bitcoin is decentralized, non-political and a neutral currency, henceforth he is attracted towards it.

Kanye West also stated that the future of the world has to deal with cryptocurrencies eventually, therefore Bitcoin is unavoidable.

Kanye West, in the interview, says:

“I wanna push future concepts. You know when I saw Harriet Tubman on a $20 bill. That is the moment I felt like using Bitcoin. It’s like those slave movies. Why do you gotta keep reminding us about the slavery? Why don’t you put Michael Jordan on the $20 bill?”

Carl, a Twitterati says:

“Well done Pomp. Kanye the crowd pleaser. You think stars don’t read all the tweets but, we get continual proof that they do.”

Kirk Freeman, a Twitterati says:

“The ultimate pump and dump scam: A crypto-rapper!”

EmSee Jay, a lyricist says:

“I believe, while deconstructing Kanye West’s articulation, basically he wants to use a decentralized coin because it does not have any tags with his past. This is not a joke, in the realm of cultural studies- a cultural history is important as many individuals face an ‘identity crisis’. The emphasis here is on racism and bitcoin is just a great way to avoid it”
