Sun Fights against Global Warming

Justin Sun, the high flying founder of TRON (TRX) has pledged to donate $1 million to the anti-climate change movement of Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old girl from Sweden, who has been championing the cause since 2018.

Thunberg who’s the 2019 Time’s Person of the Year, reportedly skipped school for several weeks in August 2018, to begin her global climate change initiative by camping out in front of the “Swedish parliament, holding a sign painted in black letters on a white background that read Skolstrejk fr klimatet: ‘School Strike for Climate’”

Now, Justin Sun has decided to pitch his tent with camp Thunberg and show support for her climate change project by pledging to donate $1 million.

Sun tweeted:

“As a young entrepreneur, I share @GretaThunberg’s passion to change the world. Crypto will contribute immensely to reducing carbon footprint by implementing decentralized settlement. I would like to personally commit USD$1 Mil to @GretaThunberg’s initiative #cop25.”

Twitter Reactions

It’s worth noting that Thunberg’s journey to fame has not been all smooth-sailing, as the teenager has gotten into a couple of high profile spats in recent times. On December 12, 2019, U.S. President Donal Trump took to Twitter to criticize Thunberg, after beating him to be named Time’s Person of the Year.

“So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!,” fired Trump.

Interestingly, a good number of Twitter users have expressed their dissatisfaction over Sun’s $1 million pledge.

@Red93Jason tweeted “I don’t think that spoilt bra @GretaThunberg will approve of #bitcoin mining or anything related to cryptos.”

@CalebWright802 tweeted: “NOOOOO. Waste of money IMO, put it towards a more worthy cause with less hype, like that ocean cleaning project everyone in this thread keeps talking about.”

Whether the highly controversial Justin Sun has a genuine interest in fighting climate change or the $1 million pledge is just another publicity stunt remains to be seen.
